What massage to book after a day at the beach in Formentera

Salt on skin, paddle shoulders, cycling legs. Which of the ten massages on our menu fits each tired body.

The body that walks into the cabin at 6pm after a full Formentera day is recognisable. Salt on skin and hair, tense shoulders from paddle or handlebars, lower back that betrays three hours on sand, maybe a sunburn. The question isn't "which massage do you want" but "what does your body need". After many seasons watching the same pattern, here's what we recommend depending on the day you've had.

Passive beach day (towel + book + water)

No exercise but accumulated sun. Skin dehydrated, body warmer than usual, nervous system in low gear. What you need isn't deep work — it's rehydration + light pressure.

Paddle, kayak or long snorkel day

Shoulders, traps, neck — the victims. The paddling motion is repetitive, asymmetric, and accumulates without warning until you're in the cabin and realise you can't turn your head normally.

Cycling around the island

Formentera invites you to cycle. Camí de Sa Pujada, route to Estany Pudent, the long descent into Es Caló. End-of-day result: quads loaded, lower back tight, glutes sore. This calls for specific muscular work, not generic relaxation.

Hangover or "long night" day

The day after Es Calma, Beso Beach or any long sunset. The body needs fluid movement, not muscle pressure. Working deep on a dehydrated, sleep-deprived body backfires — you leave with a worse headache.

Pregnancy, any trimester

If you're pregnant the bar is higher — some massages are contraindicated in the first trimester, and face-down isn't viable from the second onward. We have a specific protocol.

Chronic pain you've had for weeks (not just Formentera)

If you arrive with two months of lumbago, recurring migraines, or a deregulated cycle, massage relieves but doesn't resolve. That's what acupuncture is for.

A note on timing

The best time to book post-beach is between 5pm and 7pm. Enough to arrive showered, let the sun wear off, still alert enough to absorb the treatment. Booking at 11am for that slot guarantees availability — in August it's tight from midday onward.
